Counseling
Amelia Torres
My name is Amelia Torres, and I am so excited to be your child's school counselor and be a part of the AWE community this school year!
This is my 7th year as a school counselor and 14th year in education. I spent the past 13 years just down the road in Denton ISD as an elementary school teacher and professional school counselor. During my time in Denton ISD, I created a clothing closet that received thousands of articles of clothing to support hundreds of students, piloted a Peace Path that promoted communication during social conflict, received the Region 11 Counselor of the Month, CREST Award, and was Denton ISD's 2024 District Elementary Counselor of the Year. I absolutely love school counseling and working with students, staff, and families, and I am passionate about the impact we make as educators.
I received my Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies in EC-6 with a Minor in Spanish from UNT. I always knew I wanted to be a school counselor, so I went back to UNT and received my Masters of Science in Counseling with a focus in Play Therapy. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Outside of school, I work for the University of Texas at Tyler, supervising future school counselors.
My family and I made the move to Argyle a few years ago and I was very eager to get more involved in our Argyle community. We love biking, getting outdoors, drinking good coffee, beingtogether, and traveling to New Mexico, Arkansas, and Colorado.
I am looking forwardto a successful year of growth, opportunity, and memorable experiencesfor all of our AWE Eagles. Reach out to me anytime if I can support you.
